Lura L. Lewis age 91 of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born August, 28, 1917 in Kingsland, a daughter of the late Thadeus Elihue T. E. Cox and Addie Mae Crain Cox. Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker. She was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of Hebron United Methodist Church. Mrs. Lewis was also preceded in death by her husbands, Russell Childress and Thel O. Lewis; five brothers, Elmond Cox, Odell Cox, Leon Cox, Calvin Cox and J. D . Cox.
Mrs. Lewis is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Kay Childress of New Edinburg, Russell and Delois Childress of Jackson, Tennessee, Robert Childress of Pine Bluff; two step daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Bert Rhodes, Judy and Bruce McConnell all of White Hall; one brother, Clell Cox of Harrisonville, Missouri; seventeen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Hebron United Methodist Church near Kingsland with Brother Maurice Caldwell and Brother Dusty Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in the Hebron Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2008 at Buie Funeral Home. Pallbearers are grandsons, Jeff Childress, Steven Childress, Stan Childress, Justin Childress, Evan Trivett, Colton Tucker, Clint Childress, and Truston Dickman.
