Lucille (Sheppard) Ballard, 95, of Searcy, went to be with the Lord October 1, 2020 at her residence in Providence Assisted Living. She was born November 2, 1924 at Cotton Plant, Arkansas to the late Elmer and Uner Baldwin Wildmon.
Mrs. Ballard was a member of First Baptist Church in Kensett. For 95, she was one of the most vibrant and adventurous individuals you could find. She was always up for a jeep ride or a spin in one of the grandkids racecars. She was not afraid to live life to the fullest. While she enjoyed life and all it had to give, she also knew hard times. She grew up working in fields, sawmills (Doniphan Flooring Company), or her time working at White County Hospital. It had been said she could work alongside any man, and outworked many! She will also be remembered for her wit and wisdom. Her rod of correction knew no age; she would make the oldest of her grandkids mind just as well as her young ones. Her grandchildren all called her Mamaw, but many called her that as well.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Vern Sheppard and Johnnie Ballard; two sons, Vernon and Elton Sheppard; a sister, Thurvis Taylor; and a granddaughter, Kelly Davis.
Her beautiful legacy will live on with her family which includes a daughter, Linda Guier (Al) of Pangburn; daughter-in-law, Frankie Sheppard of Searcy; grandchildren, Mitchell Evans (Cheryl) of Pangburn, Annette Forrester (David) of Heber Springs, Kevin Sheppard (Rachel) of Searcy, Marty Sheppard (Stephanie) of Searcy, and Stacy Holloway; twelve great grandchildren; fifteen great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Beulah Bloodworth of Searcy, Geraldine Broughs of Cabot, and Oleda Hare (Randy) of Peach Tree, Georgia.
Visitation will be 1 until 2pm Monday October 5, 2020 with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. in the Sullivan Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Kensett Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Baptist Children's Home or the Salvation Army.
