Louis Maurice Owens, age 77, of Sheridan went to be with his Lord on Sunday, January 22, 2023. He was born October 26, 1945 in Eaglette, Dallas County Arkansas to the late Odas and Lucille Beeson Owens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Winnie Owens Still, his brother Roy Owens, Sr., and his niece Mary Still Weathers. Louis graduated from Norphlet High School in 1963, then attended Southern State University in Magnolia, Arkansas, followed by Pines Vocational-Technical School in Pine Bluff, learning the machinist trade. He retired from the Pine Bluff Arsenal, having previously worked for the Red River Army Depot in Hooks, Texas, and Riceland Machine & Supply in Stuttgart. He enjoyed working in his yard and watching sports. He was a faithful member of White Hall United Pentecostal Church in White Hall. He loved his God, his church, family, friends and co-workers. He was a provider and protector of those he loved.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth Eason Owens, his son, Daniel Owens of White Hall, his daughter, Sarah Owens Jackson and her husband Phillip of Sheridan, his brother, Havis Owens and his wife Linda of White Hall, his brother-in-law Bill Still, Sr. of the Jacinto Community and a host of nieces and nephews, who he loved dearly.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2023, at White Hall United Pentecostal Church with Bro. Chris Dixon officiating. No visitation is planned. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Benton Cemetery in Dallas County.
