Lottie Walker Blake

Lottie Walker Blake (LW), was born April 24, 1937 in Yancopin located in Desha County Arkansas and went to the Lord on September 22, 2010. Mr. Blake was 73 years old and was the eldest son of the late Walker and Lottie Beatrice Smith Blake. In 1960 he met and married his beloved wife, Betty Lou Mae Whipple on June 5, 1961 He was a retired carpenter and construction equipment operator. In his early years he resided with his parents in Cleveland County Arkansas and constructed homes with his father before serving in the U.S. Army and National Guard. He then went on to pursue a lifelong career in constructing bridges and highways across the south. He enjoyed fishing and hunting as pastimes throughout his lifetime. After retirement, Mr. Blake revisited his passion for gardening by growing a variety of vegetables and donating them to friends and family alike. He enjoyed his days gardening, spending time with family and his favorite dog Pep. Surviving is his beloved wife of 49 years, Betty Lou Mae Whipple Blake; 3 daughters, Beverly Kern & son-in-law Michael Kern Sr, Cynthia Brown & son-in-law Ricky Brown, and Janice Blake Heider; 1 sister, Neva Gene Davis; 1 brother, Walter Blake; 3 grandsons, Michael "Buddy" Kern Jr, Ronald "Ronnie" Heider Jr, Blake Heider; 1 granddaughter, Kristy Ann Kern; 1 great-grandson, Preston Carruth. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Buie Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Calvin Terry officiating. Burial will follow in the Rowell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 24, 2010 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. Pallbearers will be Jeff Blake, Michael Kern Sr., Ricky Brown, Walter Blake Jr., Jonathon Blake, and Lyle Blake.
