Lonnis L. Wilson

Lonnis L. Wilson age 83 of the Y Community near Rison, died Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. He was born June 27, 1925 in the Staves Community near Rison, a son of the late William Pitts and Perla Melinda Rhodes Wilson. Mr. Wilson served in the Navy during World War II. He married Catherine Burford in March of 1945 in Thornton, Arkansas. Mr. Wilson was an electrician for C & L Electric Company from 1960 until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of Masonic Lodge # 430 in Kingsland, a member of Industrial Painters and Pipe fitters Union in Little Rock. Mr. Wilson was also preceded in death by one brother, Marlin Wilson.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Catherine Burford Wilson of the Y; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Ana Natalia Wilson or Rison; daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Bill McKnight of Vilonia; four grandchildren and their spouses, Paul and Amber McKnight of Rison, Diana and Ryan Reed of Rison, Brett Lonnis and Katie Wilson of Conway, Wilson McKnight of Vilonia; two great grandchildren, Will Reed and Tucker McKnight.

Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2008 at Wilson Cemetery with Reverend Jim Stone and Brother Wade Totty officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. The family requests casual dress at service. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
