Lois Laverne Maxwell James

Lois Laverne Maxwell James, 74, of Rison, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at her home. She was born October 19, 1935 at White Hall, a daughter of the late Lonnie Maxwell and Eva Mae Walters Maxwell. Mrs. James retired from Rison Public Schools where she enjoyed working in special education. She also was a caregiver to the elderly. She was a member of the Rison Baptist Church where she belonged to the retired Jubilee group. Mrs. James loved the outdoors, fishing, cooking, and helping others. Mrs. James received her G.E.D. on May 29, 2009 of which she was very proud of. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Newton James Sr. whom died September 5, 1993. She is also preceded in death by one son, Troy Wayne James and her brothers and sisters, C.J. Maxwell, R.E. Maxwell, Willie Maxwell who died in World War II, Letha Smalley, Retha Brady, Lony Maxwell, Jimmy Maxwell, and Patricia Maxwell.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Trigger and Dena James of Rison, three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Elbert Harbin of Leesville, Louisiana, Rita and Wade Morrison of Pansy, Peggy and Michael Phillips of Rison, one sister, Lucille Luknis of McDonald, Ohio, eleven grandchildren, Chet Morrison, Kristy Strother, Alicia Nixon, Tony Fisler, Amanda Fisler, Drew James, Elbert Harbin II, Talina Harbin, Will James, Jackie Langston, April Latham , thirteen great grandchildren and a very dear friend, J.D. Green.

Funeral services are 10:00 A.M. Tuesday September 28, 2010 at Rison Baptist Church with Brother Wade Totty and Reverend Glenn Hicks officiating. Visitation will be Monday, September 27 2010 from 6 8 P.M. at Buie Funeral Home. Burial will be at Varnell Cemetery in Rison. Memorials can be made to Rison Baptist Church, P.O.
