Linda Kathryn (Campbell) Garvey
September 27, 1955 — October 24, 2016
Linda Campbell Garvey, 61, of Searcy was born September 27, 1955, in Palatka, Florida to Eddie and Kathryn Campbell, and was received home with great joy by our Heavenly Father on October 24, 2016.
Linda is a graduate of Harding Academy and Harding University in Searcy Arkansas, attended graduate school at Southern Illinois University and received her MA in English from the University of Mississippi in Oxford. She taught at various institutions, including Pace University in New York City and Westchester, New York. Linda was a National Merit Scholar and sang in The Collegiate Chorale of New York City, founded by legendary conductor Robert Shaw.
Linda was a respected and cherished daughter, sister, aunt and friend to countless people during a diverse and unique 40-year career as a writer, teacher, paralegal aide, and as a long-time creative coordinator and developer at The Walt Disney Company and several other entertainment brands in New York City. An intelligent, humble lady with a sympathetic ear and an easy, infectious laugh, Linda will be sorely missed by scores of friends all across the country. Linda was a longtime and active member of the Downtown and College Churches of Christ in Searcy, the Manhattan Church of Christ in New York City, the Living Word Christian Center in Manhattan, and The Vineyard Church in Rockville Centre, New York, in all of which she ministered and taught uncounted men and women to love, believe and trust in the promises of God.
Linda is preceded in death by her husband Dennis Garvey and her beloved mother, Kathryn. She is survived by her father, Eddie Campbell; siblings, Julie Campbell Young, David, Danny and Mindy Campbell. Her nieces and nephews were the delight of her life and she, their adored aunt: Jimmie, Katy, Eyrras, Evander and Earl Young, Madison, Phoebe, Daniel and Hannah Campbell, Reed and Haley Campbell, and Tyrone, Jaidyn and Makaelyn Campbell.
The family will have Memorial Services at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 27 at Downtown Church of Christ in Searcy.
