Lewis David Taylor

Lewis David Taylor, age 84, of Searcy, formerly of Prattsville passed away Friday, July 10, 2009 at White County Medical Center. He was born May 19, 1925 in Prattsville, a son of the late Odis B. and Beulah Smith Taylor. Mr. Taylor lived in Prattsville most of his life. He moved to Searcy in 2005 where he resided with close friends. Mr. Taylor served with the Merchant Marines for 4 years during World War II. He worked for AFCO Steel for many years, and also worked for Prattsville School District. Mr. Taylor loved fishing, working in the yard, singing and playing his guitar, and was of the Baptist faith. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Benning Taylor; brother, Odis Smith Taylor; sister, Margarie May Taylor.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Jean Taylor; nieces, Susan Caylor, Linda Goff; nephew, David Taylor, all of Texas; five step-sons, David Paxton, Butch Paxton, Stuart Paxton, Stephen Paxton, and Joe Pumphrey.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2009 at Buie Funeral Chapel with Brother Don Goodman and Mr. Thomas Binning officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Monday.
