Leonard E. Hopper age 84 of the Rowell Community near Rison, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. He was born November 13, 1923 in Lexington, Tennessee, a son of the late Lilburn and Thelma Young Hopper. Mr. Hopper retired from the Pine Bluff Arsenal was a World War II Army Veteran. He was a member of Woodman of the World, a lifetime member of the Rowell Hunting Club and a member of Center Missionary Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Melba Roberts Hopper; daughter, Dessie Harris; brother, J. D. Hopper; sister, Nell White.
Mr. Hopper is survived by one son, Dale Hopper of Pine Bluff; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and Charles Greenlee and Debbie and Robert Murders, all of the Rowell Community; brother, Herbert Hopper of Glendale; ten grandchildren, Melissa Lilly, Mona Lilly, Theresa Lilly, Angie Lilly, Susan Hopper Roberts, Robin Murders Dennis, Jeannie Greenlee Milburn, Vikki Greenlee Rice, Tommy Greenlee and Jared Murders; sixteen great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p. m., Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Center Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Doney Blackerby and Brother Jackie Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Rowell Cemetery near Rison. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. Pallbearers are Tommy Greenlee, Danny Jacks, John Dennis, Jeremy Rice, Kenneth Roberts and Jared Murders. Honorary pallbearers are R.L. Jacks and the entire Rowell Hunting Club. Memorials may be made to Center Missionary Baptist Church, 60 Cole Road, Rison, Arkansas 71665.
