May 31, 1946 — May 30, 2022

Searcy

Layton Junior Bostic, 75, of Searcy was taken to his heavenly home surrounded by his loved
ones on May 30th, 2022. He was born to the late R. L. and Mildred Ausburn Bostic on May 31st,
1946 at Searcy, Arkansas. He was a lifetime resident of White County. Layton graduated from
Kensett High school in 1964 and was a faithful member of Kensett First Baptist church for over
50 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Ellen May, his brother-in-law
David Rolett, and his son-in-law David Johnson.
Layton married the love of his life, Phyllis Vaughan Bostic on December 18th, 1965. Layton’s
legacy lives on in his wife of 56 years; his two children Reggie Bostic, and Christie Johnson; his
grandchildren Lynsey (Justin), Hunter (Logan), Haley (Warren), Richard, and Brennan; his
great-grandchildren, Peyton, Liam, Bentley, Annalee, Stetson, and coming soon baby girl
Strickland; his sister Francis Rolett; and a host of other family and friends who will forever be
changed by his unwavering integrity, steadfast support, and unconditional love. He will never be
forgotten, his memory lives in us as well as in his funny and outrageous stories, and the knives
he loved to collect and gift to those he cared about.
Layton worked as a Warehouse foreman and traffic manager for Speed Queen and
owned/operated several small businesses throughout the years. He was a craftsman with
leather, wood, jewelry, and knives. Layton found inventive ways to turn a dollar. He loved
hunting and fishing, he spread that love to his son and many of his grandchildren. Layton also
enjoyed antiques and collectables, he had a large collection of coins and knives. You knew he
cared for you when he gave you a hand picked knife. Layton was often described as a unique
mixture of John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, a cowboy at heart, born after his time.
