Lawrence Earnest Lybrand, age 91, of Sheridan passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017 at his home. He was born October 18, 1925 in the Shiloh Community in Grant County, the son of the late John Bruce Lybrand and Virgie Myrtice Reeves Lybrand. Mr. Lybrand retired as mechanic and farmer. He was a member, as well as a deacon of Shiloh Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Lybrand was also a member of the Sheridan Riding Club and the Sheridan Happy Trails Saddle and Wagon Club. He was known for bringing Santa Claus to town in his wagon for the Old Fashion Christmas. Mr. Lybrand is preceded in death by his son, Bruce Franklin Lybrand and grandson, Alexander Lybrand.
Left to cherish his memory, wife, Vurniece Beck Lybrand of Sheridan; daughters, Joyce Fagan and Lora Keen and her husband, David, all of Sheridan; sister, Louise English of Sheridan; and grandchildren, Amanda, Joshua, Erin, and Jacob; and great-grandchild, Destyne.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan with Brother Danny Hill officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation is 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan. Pallbearers are Joe McElroy, Wayne McElroy, Dennis Allen, David Keen, Wayne Davis, and Harley Paty. Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Sheridan.
