Lamar Leslie Jennings passed away in his home on Monday, May 24th, 2021. He was 80 years old. Lamar was born on June 16th, 1940 in Monticello, Arkansas. He was the second son of the late Willie Buel and Horace Leslie Jennings of Rison. Lamar was also preceded in death by his loving wife Patricia “Pat” Wilson Jennings on February 26th, 2014 after 48 years of marriage. Lamar lovingly provided care for her at home during her long battle with dementia.

He was also preceded in death by his half-brother Eugene “Gene” Jennings and wife Hazel of Hot Springs. He is survived by brothers Charles Jennings and wife Gail of Bentonville and Horace Jennings and wife Darlene of Mansfield, Texas.

Lamar is also survived by three grown children and their families: Leslie Jennings Moore and husband Jeff of Little Rock, Kevin Lamar Jennings and wife of Mt. Ida, and daughter Laura Jennings Burns and husband of Rison. All together, Lamar had seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Lamar graduated from Rison High School. He attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello where he played baseball and nearly completed a degree in Agriculture Education. He left college a few weeks early to take a job with the Cotton Belt RailRoad. He worked for the RailRoad for 25 years during which time he served on various safety committees and as conductor. He attended Rison Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge, served in the National Guard, active in the community baseball leagues, and helped care for the  Greenwood Cemetery.
