J. W. Gilbert

J.W. Gilbert, age 86, of Grapevine passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021. He was born July 18, 1934 in DeKalb, MS to the late Melvin and Arkie Pearl Gilbert. In addition to he parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Kathy Vann, and three siblings, Harvey Gilbert, Melvin Gilbert and Betty Ward. Mr. Gilbert was a retired dozier operator and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his loving wife Shirley Gilbert, children, Robert Dennis Gilbert and his wife Angela, Martha Jo Whitely and her husband Gary, Evelyn Crutchfield and her husband Dale, Carole Ann Hemmert and her husband Wayne, four step-children, Vicki Rice, Robert Stanfield, Wayne Stanfield and Chris Stanfield, siblings, Willie James Gilbert and his wife Ann, Hollie Gilbert and his wife Judy, Wayne Gilbert, Carl Gilbert and his wife Nita, one sister in law Melba Gilbert, 9 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren and 5 step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 4, 2021 at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2021 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Philadelphia Cemetery.
