J.T. Rodgers

John Thomas “J.T.” Rodgers, age 83, of Rison, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, December 16, 2021. He was born June 18, 1938 in Cleveland County to the late Lee and Gertrude Rodgers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Carroll Peters and his sister, Evelyn Simmons. Mr. J.T. retired as a heavy equipment operator for the Cleveland County Road Department. He continued to work with heavy equipment as a hobby following his retirement. Mr. J.T. will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who never met a stranger.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret Rodgers, his children, Debbie Offutt and her husband Randy, John David Rodgers, Tom Rodgers and his wife Lynn, nine grandchildren and twenty three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Varnell Cemetery.
