Joseph Harrison Taylor

Joseph (Joe) Harrison Taylor, 84 of Rison, died Friday, August 22, 2008 at the Cleveland County Nursing Home. He was born March 11, 1924 in Cleveland County, a son of the late William Harp Taylor and Arie Ella Harvey Taylor. Mr. Taylor was a retired ceramic tile contractor. He was a faithful member of Bethel Number One Missionary Baptist Church where he served as the church pianist, song director, and deacon, receiving many awards recognizing his years of service. Mr. Taylor was also preceded in death by his brother, Don Allen Taylor.

He is survived by his wife, Pebbel Smith Taylor, of Lufkin, Texas; son and daughter-in-law J. R. and Patricia Ritchey, of Lufkin, Texas; grandson, Stephen and Beth Ritchey of Rowlett, Texas; granddaughter, Shannon and William Bullock of Bryan, Texas; sister-in-law, Mary Taylor of Conway; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Bethel Number One Missionary Baptist Church in Rison with Brother Jim Tollison officiating. Burial will follow in Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Deacons will serve as pallbearers. Memorial may be made to Bethel Number One Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund; P. O. Box 370, Rison, AR 71665. Arrangements are under the direction of Buie Funeral Home of Rison (870) 325-6216.
