Joseph Steven Lawrence

Joseph Steven Lawrence, age 41, of Pine Bluff passed away on April 20, 2022, at his home. He was born November 5, 1980, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Joe was known as “one of the best mechanics around”. Joe was a 1999 graduate of Rison High School, a Christian believer, and a hard worker his entire short life. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ivan Lawrence and his grandparents, Dean and Edna Neel of Rison.

He literally began working on cars and trucks before he was a teenager. As he grew so did his experience and knowledge.  Everyone knew he was totally bald and also had on a cap; also knew it was very particular about the shape and style of the hat.  He also collected flashlights – old ones, odd ones, useful ones and always one with him. Several are on display today. Joe could be a bit of a jokester and enjoyed making you laugh at silly things. He always listened to music, quick temper and quicker at getting happy again and moving forward, definitely traits inherited by his children.  He loved them and wanted more than anything for them to be happy and live a good life.

Joe is survived by his father, Steve Lawrence and Cecilia Smith (Pine Bluff), his mother Cindy Neel King (Carter), his daughter, Alexis Lawrence (Rison) and his son, Tyler Lawrence (Pine Bluff), grandmother, Emma Della Lawrence (Pine Bluff), and a brother, Jonathan Lawrence.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Lawrence, Jonathan Lawrence, Rusty Melton, Kyle Brewer, Gary Phillips and Mike Phillips.  Honorary pallbearer Carson Lawrence

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Buie Funeral Home in Rison with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Wilson Cemetery.
