John Wilson Morgan

John Wilson Morgan, age 94, of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He was born October 22, 1916 in Herbine, a son of the late William Robert Morgan and Annie Mae McKinney Morgan. Mr. Morgan married Mildred Patrick on March 6, 1938. He loved gardening, hunting and fishing and just being outdoors. Mr. Morgan won the 2007 Cabelas Outstanding Outdoorsman Award. He retired from Standard Brake Shoe Foundry after forty plus years of service, and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Morgan was also preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Morgan Domon; three brothers, Robert Morgan, J. P. Morgan and Homer Morgan; six sisters, Lois Cox, Gladys McClellan, Luella Parker, Vera Benson, Estelle Bearden and Hazel Mills.

Mr. Morgan is survived by his wife of seventy two years, Mildred Patrick Morgan of Pine Bluff; one son, Roy Lathan Morgan of Roanoke, Texas; two daughters, Bernita Morgan of Keller, Texas and Martha Pokorski of Ralston, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Dr. Steven Domon, Stephanie Domon, Andrea Holmes, Sheri Meyer, John W. Morgan II, Angela Benson and Natalie Benson Knapik; six great grandchildren.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Buie Funeral Home Chapel in Rison with Brother Jackie Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 21, 2011 at Buie Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Olen Domon, Dr. Steven Domon, John W. Morgan II, Al Pokorski, Ed Holmes and Rob Meyer. Memorials may be made to the givers charity of choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Buie Funeral Home of Rison (870)325-6216.
