John Damon Ashcraft age 70 of Rison, died Monday, January 11, 2010 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. He was born April 5, 1939, in the Herbine Community, a son of the late Willie H. Jack Ashcraft and Hester Holderfield Ashcraft. Mr. Ashcraft attended Woodlawn School and was a 1958 graduate of Rison High School. He retired from the United Water Company in Pine Bluff where he was plant operator, was a carpenter and in the lawn care service. Mr. Ashcraft was a member of Rison Baptist Church.
Mr. Ashcraft is survived by his wife, Barbara Harper Ashcraft of Rison; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffery Damon Ashcraft and Candi of Lexington, South Carolina, Jeffrey Allen Bowlin and Angie of Grapevine, Richard Clark Bowlin and Lora of Rison; two brothers, Owen Ashcraft of Rowell, Carter Ashcraft of Hot Springs; one sister, Jan Mills of Lonoke; five grandchildren, Regan Bowlin, Jordan Bowlin, Elizabeth Elaine (Laini) Ashcraft, Katherine (Kati) Ashcraft and Abigale Helvey.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Rison Baptist Church with Brother Wade Totty officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. Pallbearers are Delmar Fultz, Danny Powell, Cleve Reed Jr., Benny Dixon, Butch Lunsford, and Rex Fore. Honorary pallbearers are Shane Drye, Tony Branch and Chris Ross. Memorials may be made to the Rison Baptist Church Activity Building Fund, P. O. Box 404, Rison, Arkansas 71665.
