Joey “Joe” Wayne Cook, 53, of McRae went to be with the Lord September 23, 2020. He was born November 18, 1966 to Wayne and Billie Mooney Cook at Brinkley. Joe married his best friend and soulmate, Chery Ross April 28, 1995 at Stamps, Arkansas; she survives. Together they shared 25 years of love and laughter.
Joe was a family man who loved to spend time in the outdoors. He enjoyed time in the woods riding four-wheelers, camping with the grandkids, and deer hunting. Joe was also an avid fisherman. His closet was consistent with the appropriate amount of camouflage for the average Arkansas Deer Hunter. His best friend “Cooter” can attest to his grand stories about how each catch or hunt quickly became trophy size. Joe was known as the jokester of the family. That is how he showed his affection for you. Joe was great at one- liners: reminding Cheryl of his father often during his final days. He will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, and to Wesley…the greatest “Kuncle”.
Along with his father, Wayne Cook, Joe was preceded in death by his grandma, Lila Ramer; grandpa, Bill Mooney; “Nanny” Beatrice Clinton Cook; “Pops” Martin Luther Cook; sister, Pam Hendrix; and grandbaby Teague.
Left to remember his smile are his wife, Cheryl Cook of McRae; mother, Billie Cook of McRae; sons, Nathan Kyle Cook (Amber) of Beebe, Matthew Blake Cook of Ward, and Trevor Wooham; daughter, Mallory Paige Teague (Daniel) of Ward; grandchildren, Kylie Nicole Cook, Christian Huskey, Julio Hernandez, Christopher Hernandez; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Grace Point United Pentecostal Church of Beebe 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2020 with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m.
