Joe Wayne Cook, age 53, of Rison passed away Friday, October 21, 2016 in Rison. He was born December 15, 1962 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Glen and Kay Cook. Joe graduated from White Hall High School. He pitched for White Hall helping them win their first state high school baseball title. Following high school, he attended and graduated from Arkansas Tech with an Associate's Degree. For the past ten years, Joe has been employed with the City of Kingsland as the Water Department Manager. All of his life, he has been an avid fisherman and hunter. Joe loved his family and friends. He also loved baseball where he served as a baseball coach for his son's baseball teams. He has recently ventured into coaching girls’ softball. Joe was an avid Rison Wildcat fan as well as a Green Bay Packer fan. He was a member of the Macedonia Hunting Club and First Baptist Church of New Edinburg.

He is survived by two sons, Joe (Blair) Cook Jr. of Jonesboro, Josh Cook of Rison; daughter, Lauren (Rusty) Leopard of Rison; granddaughter, Brooksie Leopard of Rison; brother, Gordon Cook of Texas; sister, Kristie (Brent) Harrod of Vilonia; former wife, Patty Coleman of Rison. He also has a host of nieces and two great nieces.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Buie Funeral Home with Brother Tony Adkins officiating. Interment will follow at Cypress Memorial Cemetery in Pine Bluff. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2016 at Buie funeral home. The family requests memorials be made to The Call Cleveland County Foster Care: 3540 Mt. Elba Road, New Edinburg, AR, 71660: checks payable to The Call of Cleveland County, and to his church, the First Baptist Church of New Edinburg: P.O. Box 42, Kingsland, Ar.
