Jimmy Dean Mills

Jimmy Dean Mills “Big Jim”, age 77 of Lonoke, passed away peacefully at home, May 20, 2024.  He was born March 26, 1947 in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Ross L. and Letha Campbell Mills.  Jimmy was a proud Firefighter and retired from serving the Little Rock Fire Department after 36 years. He and Jan were members of Panola Missionary Baptist Church in Lonoke. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his shop, lounging at the lake and watching his great grandchildren play baseball.  Jimmy was a loving husband, father, Pop, and friend, he will be missed by so many people.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kelly and Beatrice Campbell.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jan Ashcraft Mills, son, Barry Mills and wife Lori, grandchildren, Morgan E. Burnett and husband Cody, Hunter R. Mills and fiancée, Devin, great grandchildren, Fisher and Lane Burnett, and Karina Mills, brother, Virgle Harvey, Jr., and by many other family and friends.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m., until 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison, with services to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Buie Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Prosperity Cemetery in Rison.
