Born on December 11, 1956, in Crossett, Arkansas, Ricky as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was raised in Star City, where he would later meet and marry his loving wife, Rhonda Puckett. Together, they shared 38 years of marriage, building a family and a life filled with love, laughter, and memories that will live on forever.
Ricky was a man of many passions, with a love for storytelling, music, and the simple joy of spending time with his family. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and was the happiest when they were around. A lifelong fan of Elvis Presley, classic cars, and classic rock, Ricky was known for his love of singing and even recorded music in his younger years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Gill, his mother, Jeanene Stewart, his stepfather, David Stewart, his mother and father-in-law, Linda and Lamar Puckett, and his brother-in-law, Todd Puckett.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Rhonda, and four children: Carissa Carter, Chris Gill (Whitney), Jason Gill (Joanna), and Preslie Smith (Cody). His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Dylan, Stone, Jesse, Trey, Bryson, Alissa (Trent), Cole, Parker, CJ, Lee, and Layton. He also leaves behind three siblings, Debbie Shairrick (Joe), Paul Gill, and Donna Lowrey (Anthony).
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan.
