Jimmy Cary Culpepper

Jimmy Cary Culpepper, 61, passed away on January 7, 2017 at his home in Scurry, Texas. Visitation with the family will be held at Jayne’s Memorial Chapel located at 811 S. Cockrell Hill Road in Duncanville, Texas on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 7-9 PM. We will take a moment at 8 PM to allow anyone who would like to share stories of Jimmy. He will be laid to rest in Sheridan, Arkansas on Saturday, January 14, 2017 beginning with visitation from 12-2 PM at Buie Funeral Home located at 1301 S. Rock Street in Sheridan, Arkansas. Funeral services officiated by Pastor Joe Hunsaker will begin at 2 PM at the funeral home on Saturday with a graveside military salute that will directly follow funeral services at the Center Grove Cemetery in Sheridan, Arkansas.

Jimmy graduated from Bryan Adams HS in Dallas, Texas in 1973 and joined the Army that Fall. He served in the US Army for two years to return home where he then acquired his BS in Political Science. He followed his calling and returned to the Army as a Lieutenant, later retiring as a Captian from Fort Benning. He loved reading, learning and traveling and covered most of the US working for years as a Computer Technician for a Dallas based firm. After all his traveling, he settled down in the Kaufman area where he lived until his passing.

Jimmy will be remembered with his infectious smile and quick wit by his many friends from all walks of life. He loved people and enjoyed spending time with friends any time he could. He could be found with a beer in his hand and a smile on his face, surrounded by those he loved and we know that is where he will forever be.

He had a passion for motorcycles and the outdoors including gardening and harvesting grapes for his own homemade wine. He followed in his mother’s footsteps and loved crocheting, making many items of love for family and friends throughout the years. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Brigham Culpepper; and sister, Ann Harvey.

He is survived by his daughter, Amber Sanders (Baret); twin grandsons, Dane and Dean; his Dad, John Culpepper; twin brother, Johnny Culpepper (Darla) and brother, C. D. Culpepper; sisters, Sandra Culpepper Davis, Mary Lusk (Woody), Barbara McMurtray (Jerry) and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Active Pallbearers are nephews James and Brian Culpepper, cousin Jeff Culpepper, childhood friends Freddy Winston and Mickey Baribeau and close friend Cody Sires. Honorary Pallbearers are childhood friend Dean Baribeau; nieces, Amanda Culpepper and Shelly Teague and Kimberly Bower; nephews Greg Teague and David (Bud) Warren and Chris Lusk.

Local arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Sheridan.
