Jim Thompson

Jim R. Thompson age 62 of Chico, Texas died Friday, December 12, 2008 at John Peter Smith Hospital. He was born September 5, 1946 in New Edinburg, a son of the late Lester Franklin Thompson and Martha Sue Bryant Stafford. Mr. Thompson retired as a self employed route driver. He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Michael Thompson; sister, Vernell White; and one grandson, Carl Moring.

Mr. Thompson is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Deanna and Mack Faries of Gainesville, Texas; Kayla and Charles Moring of Redfield; one son and daughter-in-law, Rayland and Lona Thompson of Gainesville, Texas; six brothers and sisters-in law, Cecil and Lorice Thompson of Warren, Clifford and Pat Thompson of Edgewood, Texas, Robert Thompson of Drasco, Calvin and Brenda Thompson of Grapevine, Larry and Rena Thompson of Austin, Texas, Mac and Barbara Thompson of Richardson, Texas; one sister, Eloise Weeks of Star City; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 15, 2008 at Reaves Cemetery near New Edinburg with Reverend Billy Wilson officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. Arrangements are under the direction of Buie Funeral Home of Rison (870) 325-6216.
