Jerry Raymond Thompson

Jerry R. Thompson, age 77 of Rison, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.  He was born November 16, 1944 in Warren, AR to the late W.H. “Hughtie” Thompson and Hazel Ashcraft Thompson.  He was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and Herbine Deer Camp.  He retired from Georgia Pacific where he was a millwright for many years, and made many lifelong friends. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed going hunting and fishing when he could.  He spent many hours watching Barrett Jackson, NHRA races, and cheering for every sports team in America, except Texas.   The greatest joy in his life was spending time with family, especially his grandbabies, and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Jason Thompson, brothers, Bobby Lee and Billy Frank Thompson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda Mitchell Thompson, son, Bart Thompson, (Shannan) of Oak Ridge, TN, daughter Leslie Stephenson (Ryan) of Rison, grandchildren, Taylor Massey, Chad Thompson, and Jason and Tessa Stephenson, and sister in law Judy Thompson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to the staff of 2 Center East at JRMC for the care and compassion they show their patients.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison, with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
