Searcy

Jeffrey Duane Sheets, age 57 of Searcy, passed away on October 23, 2022 in Jonesboro, AR.  He was born November 28, 1964 in Greencastle, Indiana to Raymond and Brenda Carol Carter Sheets.

Jeffrey had a heart and passion for ministering to people which was evident in his work as a general contractor and carpenter, youth minister, small group ministry leader, preacher at various congregations in TN and AR, serving as the Director of Development for Searcy Children’s Homes (including cooking for foster parent training, remodeling the houseparent quarters, creating wonderful meals for the children living in the group home when he and his family served as relief houseparents), owner/chef of H.I.S. Kitchen, serving as the Executive Director/Fundraiser of Jacob’s Place Homeless Mission, serving on the Board for the White County Single Parent Scholarship Fund, serving as President of Kiwanis as well as the Searcy Ministerial Alliance.  He was a member of the Downtown Church of Christ and graduated from Harding University with a Bachelor’s in Ministry.  Jeffrey was also a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force.

He had a deep love and cared for everyone around him.  He was bold in his faith and was not afraid to ask people about their relationship with God.  He had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.  He was a guitar player, songwriter of both spiritual and silly songs, rescuer of treasures, and a creator of numerous dad jokes.  He was an amazing and loving son, husband, father, uncle, friend, and minister, and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Jeffrey is survived by his parents, Raymond and Brenda Carol Sheets, his best friend and loving wife of almost 30 years, Taryn Coe Sheets, their children Lydia Astin (Chandler), and Miriam Sheets, as well as many friends and relatives.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 5th, 2022 at 4:00 at the Downtown Church of Christ in Searcy.  In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the non-profits he served:  Jacob’s Place, Searcy Children’s Homes (now Sparrow’s Promise), and the White County Single Parent Scholarship Fund.
