James Leonard Williams age 74 of the Rye Community near Warren, died Saturday, August 28, 2010 at his home. He was born May 22, 1936 in Jefferson County, a son of the late James Washington Williams and Annie Belle Daughtery Williams. Mr. Williams retired from Woodlawn Public Schools where he worked as a custodian and bus driver. He loved hunting and fishing, was a member of I. B. Hunting Club and of the Baptist faith. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Sammie Williams; one brother, Robert Lee Williams; two sisters, Myrtle Mae Rogers, Imogene Massey Hendrix; one grandson, Austin Roland Williams.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Gloria Beane Williams of the Rye Community; one son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Irene Williams of Clearwater, Florida; two step sons and daughters-in-law , Mark and Wendy Crawford of Van Buren, Greg and Rachel Crawford of Alma; two daughters and sons-in-law, Felecia and James Eubanks of Pioneer, Louisiana, Judy and Bret Nichols of the Rye Community; one step daughter and son-in-law, Jana and John Moss of Van Buren; three brothers, Tommy Williams of Pine Bluff, Lonnie Williams of Star City, Donnie Williams of Sulpher Springs; four sisters, Ora Coleman of Pine Bluff, Juanita McGriff and Lucille McGriff, both of Star City, Fannie Belle McDonald of Humphrey; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
Gravesides services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Rowell Cemetery with Brother Doney Blackerby officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 30, 2010 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 901North University, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205. Arrangements are under the direction of Buie Funeral Home of Rison (870) 325-6216.
