James Eugene Smith

James Eugene Smith, age 63 of Pine Bluff, died, Friday, July 22, 2011 at his home. He was born July 21, 1948 in Little Rock, a son of the late James Ivy Smith and Helen Marie Miller Smith. Mr. Smith retired from the United States Navy after thirty years of service. He loved singing, hunting and fishing and was of the Assembly of God faith. Mr. Smith was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ivy Irene Smith and Linda Marie Smith.

Mr. Smith is survived by his fianc, Grace Miles of Pine Bluff; two daughters, Helen Smith of Pine Bluff and Heather Smith Hicks of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Robert Kenneth Smith of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Minnie Louise Obbards of Jefferson and Lillian Ruth Ludwick of Pine Bluff; seven grandchildren, Angela Peebles, JaKayla Proctor-Williams, Robert Smith, Lane Smith, Devin Baker, Carl Smith White and Aiyana Smith.

Graveside services are 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 25, 2011 at Ludwick Family Cemetery with Reverend Duary Auldridge officiating. Visitation is 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Buie Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements by Buie Funeral Home of Rison. (870) 325-6216.
