James Phelps

James “Pete” Royce Phelps, Jr. age 91 of Rison, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2022. He was born May 24, 1931, in Rowell, AR to the late James Phelps Sr. and Velma Frances Phelps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerry Donald Phelps, Ralph Phelps, and Jon Phelps and one sister, Jo Ann Brown.    He served in the U.S. Army in Frankfurt, Germany from 1952-1954.  He retired from Coleman Dairy.  Pete was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Stella Glover Phelps; daughters, Cindy James (Scott), Leslie Phelps, and Lisa Stewart; six grandchildren, Clint James, Brett James (Anna), Anna Catherine Williams, Mary Elizabeth Williams, Reid Stewart and Mackenzie Stewart; and one brother, Harry Phelps.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 1, 2022, at Rowell Cemetery in Rowell, AR with Bro. Steve Monk officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Samaritan’s Purse or

St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
