James M. "Hop" Pennington

James M. "Hop" Pennington, age 91, of Rison, Arkansas passed away Monday, November 24, 2014. He was born March 22, 1923 in Cleveland County, a son of the late James Benjamin Pennington and Effie M. Drury Pennington. Mr. Pennington was of the Methodist faith and served in the United States Navy Seabees. He had a long career as a mechanic for the Arkansas State Highway Department. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pennington is preceded in death by his wife, Vera Eugene "Coot" Harper Pennington, whom he married December 27, 1942; two sisters, Hazel Wilson and Loyce Crook. Left to cherish his memory is a son, James B. Pennington and his wife Barbara of Rison; five grandchildren, James Benjamin Pennington, Pamela Mellic, Christopher Pennington, Amanda Barraclough and Chad Hall; and seven great grandchildren. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 28, 2014 at Greenwood Cemetery in Rison with Reverend Don Johnson officiating. Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison. (870) 325-6216.
