James “Sonny” McCluskey, 80, of West Point, passed away February 21, 2018 at his residence. He was born July 7, 1937 at Brinkley, Arkansas to the late Odis and Elna Brewer McCluskey.
Mr. McCluskey was of the Baptist faith and an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He owned and operated (along with his wife) Arkansas Trap and Net where they built and distributed fish traps and nets to commercial fisheries throughout the United States. His greatest love was his wife, who he told everyday how much he loved her as well as his grandchildren who were the light of his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Tammy McCluskey.
He married Shelia Hill McCluskey February 26, 1979 at Searcy, Arkansas; she survives. He is also survived by four daughters, Johna Baker (Sam) of Searcy, Brandy Kidwell (Tony) of West Point, Terry McCluskey of California, and Sharon McCluskey of Kentucky; one son, Ricky McCluskey of California; six grandchildren, Lindy, Stevie, Connor, Michael, TJ, and Hunter; one brother, Jim McCluskey (Carol) of Michigan; two sisters, Joyce Burrows (Paul) of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Estra Fitts (Robert) of Michigan; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will begin 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2018 at Sullivan Funeral Care Chapel with funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at West Point Cemetery
