James “Jim” Millard Kelley, age 94 of Lubbock, TX passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018. He was born November 10, 1923, in Sheridan, Arkansas to the late James Sol Kelley and Leona Moore Kelley.
He served in the United States Army for 9 years and 9 months, several of these years were spent in Kodiak, Alaska, Sendai Japan and Korea. He was employed with Federal Pacific in Dallas, TX for a number of years later retiring from there. Millard loved flowers and loved working in them. He also liked to transfer all of the photos of his travels onto DVD’s and had a collection of these.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother D.C. Kelley, and two sisters, Sallie Dorothy Smith and Ruby Lee Smith. He is survived by several nieces, nephews and other cousins and friends. He is also survived by a close, dear friend, housemate, and caregiver, Marvin Fraley of Lubbock, TX. They loved to travel extensively in the United States and several foreign countries. He collected a flag from each country he visited.
Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville.
