James A. Williams

Prattsville

James “Jim” Albert Williams, age 98 of Prattsville, died March 23, 2020 at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab Center.  Jim was born January 21, 1922 in Prattsville to the late Clarence Albert and Sylvanda “Vandy” Jane Binning Williams.  He was a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church in Prattsville.  Jim served in the United States Army during WWII and he received the Purple Heart Medal for wounds he received during the Battle of Leyte in the South Pacific.  He retired from the Arkansas Department of Transportation.  Jim married Maggie Keesee in 1946 and they had over 59 years together until her death in 2006.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his lovely bride, Maggie Keesee, 5 of his 9 siblings; Orville (Glendyl), Barbara (Herbert) West, Ralph (Boots), Tommy Luther (Norma), and Joe Howard (Rachel).  He is survived by 4 siblings; Virginia (Murry) Arnold, Charlie (Ada), Betty Sue (Clyde) Gibbons, and Nancy Ann (David) Evans; and also by his in-laws, Clyde Gibbons, Norma Williams, Rachel Kauffman Williams, and David Evans.  Jim was very much loved by all his many nephews and nieces.  Uncle Jim was a very special person who always had a smile for everyone.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
