J. D. Lunsford

J. D. Lunsford, age 89, of the Pleasant Ridge community near Rison went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 23, 2016. Mr. Lunsford was born August 27, 1926 in Cleveland county, a son of the late Jewell Lunsford and Mary Melinda Roberts Lunsford. He was a retired mechanic, owner and operator of Lunsford's Small Engine Repair for many years. Mr. Lunsford was a faithful member of Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Pamela Wilder, Reba Lunsford Taylor, Lorene Lunsford Cox; five brothers, Richard Lunsford, Jimmy Lunsford, J. W. Lunsford, Joe Pat Lunsford and Willie "Bob" Lunsford.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-nine years, Helen Coats Lunsford of Pleasant Ridge, whom he married November 10, 1946; three sons, David Lunsford and wife, Rebecca of Pleasant Ridge, James Lunsford and wife, Sandy of Sheridan, Johnny Lunsford and wife, Judy Kay of Pleasant Ridge; one daughter, Diane Hebert and husband, Gary of Rison; four brothers, Tommy Lunsford, and wife, Mary, Troy Lunsford, both of Rison, Danny Lunsford and wife, Manette of Pine Bluff, Wayne Lunsford of Harrison; one sister, Betty McDaniel and husband, Buddy of Pine Bluff; nine grandchildren and a host of great and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 27, 2016 at Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church near Rison with Brother Don Breshears officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. Pallbearers are Dusty Hebert, Trevor Ragan, Johnathon Lunsford, David Lunsford Jr., Joey Henderson, James Lunsford Jr. and Mark Cash. Memorials can be made to Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
