Hilda E. Ashley

Hilda E. Ashley, 85, of Sheridan died Monday, July 14, 2008, at Saline Memorial Hospice in Bryant. She was born November 12, 1922 in Prattsville, a daughter of the late Arthur Stuckey and Bennie Reynolds Stuckey. Mrs. Ashley was Valedictorian of Prattsville High School, class of 1939. On August 23, 1943 she married Olton Ashley in Sheridan. Mrs. Ashley was a homemaker and a member of Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on February 18, 2003; son, John Earl Ashley; sister, Helen Smith.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Penny Ashley of Prattsville; three grandsons and spouses, Lance and Kim Ashley of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, J.M. Ashley of Prattsville, Mark and Robin Ashley of Sheridan; great-grandson, Michael Ashley; several step great-grandchildren; two brothers, J.L. Stuckey of Sheridan, Lawrence Stuckey of Prattsville; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Buie Funeral Chapel with Brother Jerry Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville. Visitation will be from 6-8 Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers are John Ashley, Lance Ashley, Mark Ashley, Wayne Creed, David Ellis, and Dennis Channel.
