Hazel Kesterson

Hazel Kesterson, age 97 of Rowell, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, May 26, 2013. She was born October 22, 1915 in Rowell, a daughter of the late John H. Covington and Ida Reed Covington. Mrs. Kesterson was an avid gardener and loved entering her goods in the Cleveland County Fair. She was a homemaker and a member of Center Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Kesterson wrote the Rowell News for the Cleveland County Hearld for over sixty years. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Monroe Kesterson; daughter, Eddie Ruth Glover; brother, Clyde Covington; sister, Mary Pennington; son-in-law, Robert Rodgers. Mrs. Kesterson is survived by a daughter, Margie Nell Rodgers of Woodlawn; son-in-law, Rupert Glover of Rowell; five grandchildren, Kathy Glover Felts, Mike Glover, Tim Glover, Burt Rodgers and Ellen Rodgers Ray; twelve great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:00a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Center Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Doney Blackerby and Brother Buddy Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Rowell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Buie Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Brett Rodgers, Brian Smith, Clint Felts, Bill Berry, Ricky Williams, Joey Moseley, Allen Wilson and David Algea. Honorary pallbearers are Marvin Rauls, Harry Phelps, Owen Ashcraft, David Stover, Larry King, Mike Reed, Kenneth Roberts, Benny Stone, and Bill Groves.
