Harris Allen Haymond

Harris Allen Haymond, age 80, of Rison went to be with the Lord, Monday, August 24, 2015. Mr. Haymond was born May 8, 1935 in Kanawah Head, West Virginia, a son of the late Wade Hampton and Laura Daff Haymond. Following in the footsteps of his brother, Zane Haymond, he joined the Marine Corps to serve his country. He would later transfer to the Air Force where he started as an Aircraft Mechanic and Crew Chief on KC-97's. As the Vietnam War heated up, he cross-trained to be a Flight Engineer and logged over 10,000 hours of flight time on C-141's and C-5's. After Allen retired from the Air Force in 1974, he and his wife, Margaret, returned home to Rison. He worked for many years in Pine Bluff and Star City, retiring from National Wire Company in 2000. He and Margaret were active in the Rison United Methodist Church. He was a loving and faithful husband and father, generous with his time and treasure. Mr. Haymond was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Margaret Ann Haymond and a daughter, Rita Ann Jorge. Left to cherish his memory are his three sons, Lloyd William "Bill" Patrick of Rison, Martin Haymond and wife, Juanita of Manchester, Tennessee, Jeff Haymond and wife, Jennifer of Spring Valley, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Shanti Burns, Callie Haymond, Jamie Jorge, Natalie Haymond, Amanda Haymond, Christopher Haymond, Matthew Haymond, Megan Haymond and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services are 2:00p.m., Friday, September 4, 2015 at Rison United Methodist Church in Rison, with Elder Jeff Haymond and Reverend Ike Mohr officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery at Rison. Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
