Hallette Thomas Hanry

March 6, 1936 — October 30, 2016

Hallette Thomas Hanry, age 80, of El Dorado died Sunday, October 30, 2016. She was born March 6, 1936 in Rowell, Arkansas to the late Dan S. "Dick" and Rachel Stark Thomas. She graduated from Norphlet High School in 1954. Hallette enjoyed her work as a Cub Scout den mother throughout the 1960's in Junction City and in Kansas City, Kansas. She completed LPN training in 1980 and then worked in the GI Lab at Warner Brown Hospital until her retirement in 2004. She served as an officer at the local and state level of the Arkansas LPN Association. Hallette grew up in the First Methodist Church of Norphlet. She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in El Dorado where she was a long time member of the United Methodist Women's group. She loved volunteering at the food pantry before her stroke. She loved flowers, especially red geraniums and petunias. She enjoyed spending time with her grandsons and her pets. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Gerald Edward Hanry, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Cindy Hanry; sister, Virginia Lowery; brothers, Dick Thomas, Jr. and Morris Thomas.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Marie Thomas of Kinder, Louisiana; four children and four grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her constant companions of the past five years; her dogs, Lucy and Blondie; her cats, Felton and Squeaky.
The last few years of her life she enjoyed reconnecting with friends and family from long ago. She very much enjoyed visiting with her cousins and family at the Jacks' reunions at Woodlawn. She enjoyed her trips to Rowell and talking genealogy with her cousins Danny Thomas and Mike Thomas. Holly Grove Homecoming and the holidays were a special time for her to visit with many Hanry family nieces and nephews. She especially enjoyed visits from Jim, Betty and Lawrence.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Center Missionary Baptist Church in Rowell with Brother Doney Blackerby officiating. Interment will follow at Rowell Cemetery. There will be a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. She will be joining six generations of paternal ancestors; the Thomas, Lewis and Barnett families. She will be joining four generations of the Stark family as well.
