Gwen (Birman) Bertany

Gwen Bertany, 91, of Searcy, formerly of Chicago, passed away March 27, 2019 at her residence.  She was born July 26, 1927 at Chicago to the late LeRoy and Harriett Lange Birman.
Mrs. Bertany graduated high school at Lake View High in Chicago and was of the Presbyterian faith.  She was a homemaker and excellent housekeeper.  She loved all things nature; the earth, animals, cats in particular, and she also was an avid gardener.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Anne Borneman and brother, William Birman.
She married Art Bertany June 19, 1948 at Chicago; he survives.  She is also survived by two daughters, Kathy Ferricher of Searcy and Linda Allen (Jim) of Chicago; grandchildren AJ (Sam), Lindsay (Bill), Brett (Jess) and Sean; great grandchildren, Mason, Landon, Logan, Declan, Nora, and Ronan; one sister, Patty Pazy of Chicago; as well as many friends and extended family.
A memorial service will be held later in Chicago.  There will be a reception at Sullivan Funeral Care Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Arkansas Alzheimer’s Association, 201 Markham Ctr Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205.
