Grady Pat Grider

Grady Pat Grider, age 72 of White Hall, died Saturday, June 18, 2011 at his home. He was born May 14, 1939 in Rowell, a son of the late Lester Grider and Maggie Spakes Grider. Mr. Grider attended Woodlawn High School. He retired from the United States Army, having served in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and was the first enlisted recipient of the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. Mr. Grider also retired from the United States Postal Service. He was also preceded in death by one son, Jack Grider.

Mr. Grider is survived by one son and daughter, Eric and Janet Grider of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Tammy Green of Greenville, Texas; four brothers, R. A. Grider of Warren, Sonny Grider of Benton, James Grider of Woodlawn and John Grider of Warren; four sisters, June Ruth Saint of Columbus, Georgia, Barbara Grote of Arkansas, Peggy Jean Spencer of Houston, Texas and Joan Perry of Warren; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; former spouse, Peggy Grider; companion, Linda Fox.

Graveside services with full military honors will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 901 North University, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Buie Funeral Home of Rison. (870) 325-6216.
