Golda Bill King, 100, of Judsonia passed from this life December 14, 2020. She was born November 1, 1920 to the late William and Katherine Schanks Smith at Little Rock. She married her husband, Myrk King; he also preceded her in death. Together they raised two wonderful children and enjoyed a large family of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
As a member at the First Assembly Church of God in Bald Knob, Golda was faithful in her prayers and support until she was not physically able to attend. She did, however, prayerfully support the church as well as fervently pray for her family. She believed in the Living word of God and held tight to the promise God made to watch over her family members.
She enjoyed the sermons of Charles Stanley. She read Charles’ books and her bible faithfully. Golda took great pride in keeping her home tidy and ready for visitors. She would get on to her son, Larry, if he dared to wash dishes or pick up around the house.
A favorite story the family remembers her telling is when she won a dance contest at The Gym Theatre in Little Rock doing the Charleston. Before walking onto the stage, Golda tripped over her dress and fell on her knees in front of the audience. She made the announcement that they should probably fix the flooring of the dance floor and kept on dancing. She proudly took the trophy home that day. She always enjoyed dancing, and she enjoyed singing although she claiming she “wished” she could sing. She sang on the radio and she loved to sing karaoke. Golda was a woman who was full of life and love and she is greatly missed.
Along with her parents, Golda King was preceded in by her husband, Myrk King; brother, Harry L.B. King; and her grandson, Larry Paul King.
Those left to share the stories of a great centenarian are her son and caregiver, Larry King of Judsonia; daughter, Rebecca (Kenneth) Ashburn of Bald Knob; grandchildren, Leah (Jared), Diana, Paula (Ted), Heather, Sydney (William); eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild, and a host of family and friends.
