Gladys Ruth Spakes

Gladys Ruth Spakes, age 94, of Rowell, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. She was born October 20, 1920 in Cleveland County, a daughter of the late Henry Houston Holderfield and Mary Porter Hobson Holderfield. Mrs. Spakes was a retired employee from Ben Pearson and a homemaker. She dearly loved gardening and taking care of her chickens, but most importantly she adored spending time with her family. She was a member of Center Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Spakes; one son, Trever Spakes; one brother and four sisters. Left to cherish her memory is one son, Jerry Spakes and wife, Julia of Garland City; one daughter-in-law, Carolyn Spakes Williams of Rison; three grandchildren, Todd Spakes, Jody Spakes and Ryan Spakes; eleven great grandchildren and two special nieces, Charlene Bond and Frances Wells, both of Rison. Funeral Services are 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Center Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Doney Blackerby and Brother Jackie Richardson officiating, burial to follow in Rowell Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the church. Pallbearers are Todd Spakes, Jody Spakes, Travis Spakes, Michael Pickens, Doug Ashcraft, Ronnie Brown, Jason Coburn and Billy Stone. Memorials may be made to Rowell Cemetery.
