Gertie Powers Taylor

Gertie Powers Taylor, age 88 of the Herbine Community near Rison, died, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the Wagnon Place Nursing Home in Warren. She was born March 15, 1923 in the Herbine Community, a daughter of the late Emitt Powers and Bertha Brown Powers. Mrs. Taylor retired from Central Maloney after thirty three years of service, where she was a coil winder, and a member of Bethel Number Two Missionary Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband of sixty two years, Harry Taylor; one grandson, Bill Miller Jr; one granddaughter, Theresa Miller; six sisters; three brothers.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Billy Miller of the Herbine Community; granddaughter and husband, Lisa and Jeff Pinson of Franklin, Tennessee; great granddaughter, Bailey Pinson of Nashville, Tennessee, great granddaughter and husband, Andrea and Buddy Wilkins of Woodlawn; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Buie Funeral Home with Brother Jackie Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2011 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. Pallbearers are Aaron West, Rusty Moore, Mike White, Bobby Parker, Kelly Stewart and Steve Harlow.
