George Rogers Earnest

George "Pete" Earnest, age 72 of Griffith Springs Community, near Star City entered into Eternal Rest, Saturday, December 12, 2015 at his home. He was born September 1, 1943 in Rison, a son of the late David Jackson Earnest and Marie Rogers Earnest. Mr. Earnest was a graduate of Star City High School and served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of New Home Missionary Baptist Church in Glendale. Mr. Earnest retired from International Paper Company in Pine Bluff, after a forty year career. He loved drinking his Coffee almost as much as he did spoiling his six grandchildren. Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Jeanette Webb Earnest, of Griffith Springs, whom he married December 5, 1969; three sons, Bobby Dale Earnest of Portland, Tennessee, Rogers Alan Earnest (Tawnya) of Clarksville, Tennessee, William Lee Earnest of Griffith Springs; three brothers, Marvin Earnest of Star City, J.D. Earnest of Pine Bluff and David Earnest of Rison; six sisters, Jeanette Vontungeln of White Hall, Ann Ashcraft of North Arkansas, Geneva Courtney of Woodlawn, Doris Caldwell of Ruston, Louisiana, Carolyn Robinson of Rison and Virgie Harvard of Lucedale, Mississippi; six grandchildren, Lainey, Hayden, Kylee, Brandon, Alexandra and Rebecca.Funeral services are 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Buie Funeral Chapel in Rison with Brother Joseph Pemberton and Brother Leon Crutchfield officiating. Interment will follow at Earnest Cemetery near Tinsman. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 14, 2015 at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
