George Alvin Best, Jr., age 53, of Kingsland, died Monday, September 28, 2015 at his home. Mr. Best was born August 8, 1962 in Dewitt, a son of George A. Best, Sr. and the late Margaret Ann Hudson Best. He served in the United States Army and was a retired retail broker for many years. He was a graduate of Russellville High School and attended Arkansas Tech and UALR Law School. Mr. Best was presented with an Olympic gold wrestling medal by President Jimmy Carter for his many achievements in this sport. Some of his favorite hobbies were playing cards with friends and horse racing. He attended Kingsland Assembly of God Church. Mr. Best was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Mary Hudson and George D. and Betty Lee Best. Survivors include his parents, George A. Best, Sr. and Sible Best of Kingsland; son, Kyle Best of Tichnor; brothers, Danny D. Best and Jimmy Don Best, both of Kingsland, Joseph Allen Best of West Memphis, Rickey Lynn Best of North Little Rock; sister, Lou Etta Abbott of Carlisle; grandchildren, McKayla and Harley. Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Nady Church of the Nazarene with Brother Eddy Best officiating. Interment will be in Hockenberry Cemetery at Tichnor. Cremation arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
