Gary "Brod" Douglas Brodnax, age 67 of Rison, died, Monday, October 8, 2012. He was born October 31, 1944, in Bastrop, Louisiana, a son of the late Gurvis Brodnax and Virginia Herne Brodnax. Mr. Brodnax retired from the Cotton Belt Rail Road, and was a Baptist. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved fishing in bass tournaments. Mr. Brodnax was a member of the Simmons and Randolph Hunting Clubs, member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, and was a commercial duck guide. But most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Gurvis "Skip" Brodnax. Mr. Brodnax is survived by his wife, Kay Tanner Brodnax of Rison: one son, Beecher Douglas Brodnax of Rison; one daughter and son-in-law, Polly Brodnax Klass and Andrew of Bryant; one brother, Terry Brodnax of White Hall; two sisters, Judy Welch of Pine Bluff, Jan Greenlee of Rison; five grandchildren, Morgan Pendergrass, Bentley Brodnax, Kaleb Brodnax, Saige Brodnax and Madison Waltz. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Buie Funeral Home with Brother Jonathan Hall and Mr. Ace Cullum officiating. Burial will follow in Cypress Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Buie Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Ace Cullum, Kap Cullum, Alan Cullum, Raymond Cummings, Jimmy Smith, Kaleb Brodnax, Gary Peters and Chuck Yahnke. Honorary pallbearers are David Cullins, Curtis Cullens, Trent Rhodes and J. W. Halman. Arrangements are by the Buie Funeral Home of Rison (870) 325-6216.
