Felton A. Gavin

Felton A. Gavin age 74 of the Herbine Community near Rison, died Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Bradley County Medical Center in Warren. He was born December 2, 1934 in the Herbine Community, a son of the late E. G. Buck Gavin and Geneva Shelby Gavin. Mr. Gavin graduated from Woodlawn High School and served in the National Guard. He was a retired welder, having worked for Central Maloney for thirty six years and was later a security guard for War Eagle Boat Manufacturing in Monticello. Mr. Gavin was a member of Bethel Number Two Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Gavin is survived by his wife, Linda Sue DeMoss Gavin of Herbine; one son, Richard Felton Gavin of Herbine; two daughters and son-in-law, Tena Karen (Gavin) Bowlin of Herbine, Tammy Kay (Gavin) Miller Crowder and husband C. W. Crowder of Pine Bluff; one brother, J. W. Gavin of Herbine; one sister, Dorothy (Norton) Reed of Pine Bluff; two grandchildren, Breanne Miller of Rison, Brandon Miller of Rison.

Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2009 at Prosperity Cemetery with Brother Wade Peddy officiating. Pallbearers are E. C. Thomasson, Jerry Thomasson, Jimmy H. Gavin, Harry Phelps, Robert D. Curry and Mark Young. Arrangements are under the directions of Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
