Evelyn C. Byrd

Evelyn C. Byrd age 86 of the Pansy Community, was called home by her Lord on Sunday, January 25, 2009, after a long illness. She was born December 6, 1922 in Woodlawn, a daughter of the late Claud and Maude Vent Ashcraft. Mrs. Byrd was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Number Two Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Guy Crook, Floyd Byrd; brother, John C. Ashcraft.

Mrs. Byrd is survived by the kids, Jacqueline and Willie J. Johnston, Patsy and Cecil Smith, Mary Nell and Gary Atkinson, John E. and Carolyn Ashcraft; two loving nieces, Donne Burke, Brenda McKennon; other nieces and nephews; caring great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Bethel Number Two Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Toney Williams and Brother Wade Peddy officiating. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery. Great nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Buie Funeral Home.
