Eugene Harold (Geno) Statler

July 14, 1925 — January 18, 2016

Rev. Eugene Harold Statler “Geno”, 90, of Port Lavaca, Texas, formerly of Kensett, passed away January 18, 2016 at his residence.  He was born July 14, 1925 at Hornersville, Missouri to the late Charles Edward and Priscilla Theradosa Sherwood Statler.
Rev. Statler was a retired Assembly of God minister.  He pastored and evangelized for over 60 years, lastly pastoring the House of Prayer in Kensett.  He was also an electrician, retiring from Formosa Plastics in Port Lavaca and a WWII Army Veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Harold Statler; grandson, Douglas Statler; and two great grandchildren, Lizzie Vest and Rentha Hart.
He married Alvie Sullivan Statler October 17, 1964 at Higginson, Arkansas; she survives.  Other survivors include six daughters, Linda Sullivan (Buddy), Cindy Boldrey (Danny), Sheila Jasso (Martin), Tammy McLaughlin (Alfredo), Marquita Gohlke (Dale), and Rebecca Ellard (David); one son, Thomas Statler (Krystal); twenty grandchildren; twenty eight great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 22, at House of Prayer in Kensett.  Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the church with burial following at Gum Springs Cemetery in Searcy.
