Emily Sue Waymack Davis age 85, went to be with the Lord on September 14, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born September 25, 1937 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She was a member of Hazel Street Church of Christ.
Preceding her in death was her father Parvin Perry Waymack, Sr. and mother Shirley Henderson Waymack .
She attended Pine Bluff Schools from the first grade to graduation in 1955, and then attended Ouachita Baptist College earning a degree in Home Economics in 1959. Her teaching career started in 1959 in the Altheimer Public Schools where she met her future husband Robert “Sonny” Davis, the coach at a neighboring school. After a brief courtship the couple married on July10th, 1960 at Southside Baptist Church. They had a loving marriage for 63 years. They were blessed with two children, a daughter Susan Lynn Davis and son Robert Walton “Walt” Davis, Jr.
She is survived by her husband Robert “Sonny” Davis, daughter Susan Reynolds and her husband Larry, grandchildren Kristen Reynolds and her fiancé Nate Elliott, Tyler Reynolds and his wife Lori Simpson Reynolds and great-grandson Jackson Reynolds, and grandson Cole Reynolds, son Walt Davis and his wife Tina, granddaughter Ticia Rainwater and her husband Chad, great grandchildren Hudson and Cayden, granddaughter Callie Baldridge and her husband Aaron, great grandchild Cort. Emily is also survived by her sister Carolyn Brown of Warrenton, Virginia; brother Parvin Waymack and wife Fran of Georgia, nephew Matt Waymack and wife Rebecca and their children Matthew and wife Hannah, Barry, Holden, Joshua and Tricia; nephew Joe Wallace and wife Kelli and children Josh and Jacob.
Emily was a wonderful Christian wife and mother, known and loved by all as a sweet person. She was an extraordinary cook, loved everyone and never had anything bad to say about anyone. She was our rock, the glue for the family and set such a great example for all. Her teaching career started on the high school level as a Home Economics teacher in Altheimer and continued as a third grade teacher at England Academy finishing her career at Humphrey Public Schools. Throughout her life Emily was an active member in her church serving as a Sunday school teacher, Bible school instructor and anywhere she was needed.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 19th from 10am to noon at Hazel Street Church of Christ 4015 Hazel Street in Pine Bluff. Graveside will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, 6707 Dollarway Road, Pine Bluff, Arkansas at 1 p.m.
